Hace Mucho features a large selection 100% reclaimed and recycled hardwood beams (vigas) columns (columnas) headers (dalas), and vintage doors and windows. We also encounter decorative old ironwork and stone, tile work (floor and wall) and rare marble. Much of this wood has been in service for over 100 years, and properly treated, can be repurposed to last another 100 years in a restored or new building.
Our reusable materials are acquired mainly from construction projects, but also from ranchos, back yards, and many unexpected places.
We are careful to engage in noninvasive salvage, operating under the guidelines of INAH, the Mexican federal architectural heritage protection agency. Materials and objects may not be removed from a building designated a “monumento historico” or from protected areas ‘zonas historicas” These buildings and areas are clearly designated, and while strictly honoring these guidelines, we aspire to aid the slow process of authentic restoration of viable colonial era structures and to help preserve the Colonial architectural heritage of Mexico.
Visit examples of colonial Mexican houses restored using entirely reclaimed wood-beams, doors, windows and custom cabinets and furniture made from re-cycled hardwoods.
